As a testimony to Singapore government’s strong thrust for entrepreneurship, a total of 16,886 companies were incorporated in the city-state between January and May this year. Of these the maximum 4,473 were in the wholesale and retail sector, and around 2,904 new companies entered the professional, scientific and technical activities. The cooling measures for Singapore’s red-hot property market also left its mark as only 234 new business entities relating to real estate activities were incorporated in the same period.
